Halifax Ladies 4th team were unlucky to lose 6-2 to Wakefield in a fast paced game where Wakefield had the upper hand thanks to their representative youngsters.

Halifax started strongly and captain Angela Wright worked hard to ensure that Wakefields playmaker was thwarted.

Becca Kendall worked tirelessly in the centre in defence and attack. Wakefield were strong on the counter attack and were the first to score despite strong defence from Lisa Scoltock and Linda Clarkson.

Halifax maintained pressure and after great work by Gail Crabtree were awarded a short corner .Ang Wright fired the ball in and Jo Hardingham scored in a well worked move.

Wakefield were quick to respond and scored twice on the counter attack just before half time.

Halifax regrouped and continued to make headway with Nicky Boulton providing great passes to Robyn Fawkes but Wakefield kept up the pressure on Halifax’s defence with Claire Robertshaw and Amber Pennyward making lots of goal saving tackles.

Sasha Pennyward made some great saves amid an onslaught from the Wakefield young forwards.

Halifax did not give up however and were rewarded after Becca Kendall and Jo Hardingham linked well up the right wing with Becca Kendall scoring from the top of the D.

Man of the match to Amber Pennyward for her outstanding work in defence.
