Ladies 4th lost 1-0 away to City of York, in a game that was filled with dubious umpiring decisions and heated exchanges.

Despite half term causing availability problems, Halifax travelled to York with a team of 11 to be faced with a City of York squad of 15.

The game flowed from end to end with Harriet Wood, Sara Woodhead and Robyn Fawkes, in her first senior game, creating some fine chances up front, only to be denied by the keeper and some random umpiring decisions.

As hard as the forwards worked, the defence were kept equally busy towards the end of the first half but some fine saves from keeper Sasha Pennyward kept the score line to 0-0 at half time.

A rousing half time team talk from Captain Angela Wright saw the Halifax squad determined to create more opportunities in the second half.

Jade Dunn and Leigh Hirst linked well in midfield with Fawkes and Wood creating space for Linda Clarkson and Lisa Scoltock to fire the ball through from defence.

Halifax began to dominate with some fine work down the right side of the pitch between Amber Pennyward, Jo Hardingham and Robyn Fawkes.

A catalogue of decisions saw City of York sneak a goal in despite numerous misdemeanours in the D by the home team only for Halifax to have a goal disallowed soon after for the same foul.

A close fought match, which got a bit heated at times, ended in a close result with Halifax being unlucky to come away without at least one point from the fixture.
