Halifax Ladies 4th Team won their first away match of the season with a 9 – 5 win against Leeds University Ladies 7th Team.

A great game where the whole team played well especially the forward line. Halifax scored in the first five minutes from a great cross from Claire to Helen who slotted it straight through the keepers’ legs. Claire turned provider again for the second goal with a cross to Fiz who flicked the ball straight passed the keeper at close range. Brave goal!

Leeds then attacked and got in behind the Halifax defence and pulled one back. Then Fiz scored an amazing solo goal taking the ball from the half way line around the Leeds defence and then coolly around the keeper one on one to score the goal of the match.

Then Leeds got in behind the Halifax defence again and pulled another one back. This inspired Halifax to go on another goal spree. Brogan scored from close range following in from a Halifax short corner. Then Claire and Jo both scored before half-time. Halifax went into half time 6-2 up! Leeds as expected raised their game as soon as the second half got underway and scored two quick goals to pull the score back to 6-4.

This sparked Halifax back into life and again Fiz went on another solo run only to be shoulder charged over right in front of the Leeds goal keeper! Penalty flick awarded which Fiz calmly scored to complete a brilliant hat-trick. Halifax carried on attacking the Leeds defence and Claire got her second goal of the match with a cracking long range shot.

Then Leeds scored another goal as Halifax switched off again but Halifax had the final word with Fiz scoring her 4th goal of the match in the final minutes to make the final score Halifax 9 – Leeds 5!

The entire Halifax team played well and it was a great team performance. The Halifax Player of the match was Fiz Raud for four amazing goals.
