The game was all about Halifax applying “the press” which we have been practising in training with Halifax Coach Angela.

Halifax executed the press brilliantly in the first half and pinned Airedale into their half. This resulted in the half time score being 2 nil to Halifax, with goals from Claire Pell and Helen Williams.

The second half was more of the same from Halifax and Airedale rarely got out of their half. This resulted in Halifax scoring three more goals. Second half goal scorers were Helen Williams, Claire Pell and in the last five minutes Brogans persistence paid off, scoring from close inside Airedales D.

The pick of Halifax’s goals was the second goal from Claire Pell which she struck magnificently into the roof of Airedales goal, giving their keeper no chance.

The entire Halifax team played well and it was a great team performance which made it difficult to pick a player of the match.

Therefore, the vote went to three players; Claire Pell for her amazing second goal and youngsters Brogan Goldthorpe who made a goal and scored one, and Emma Whitaker with an exemplary mid field performance.
