Halifax Goal Scorer: Lydia Robinson
Halifax Players of the Match: Amber Penny-Ward & Brogan Goldthorpe
The first half was evenly matched. Selby scored first. Then Halifax equalised from a short corner.
A great push out from Jo, straight to Lydia at the top of the D, who then struck the ball magnificently straight into the goal. So at half-time Halifax thought “we can do this”!
Halifax had the second half push back and caught the Selby defence napping. Great runs and passing by the Halifax forward line, especially by Brogan down the right hand side, took Halifax into Selby’s D. Halifax should have scored, but the ball unfortunately hit the post.
After that Selby started to push forward and Selby’s star player No.35 made the difference. She attacked continuously down the right and despite valiant defending by Halifax players; Sydney, Leigh and Amber, No. 35 scored a great goal.
Halifax responded with several attacks into Selby’s D, but just couldn’t make them count.
Halifax battled on but Selby’s No.35 continued to dominate the game. Sasha, (Halifax goal keeper), pulled off some great saves, but Selby eventually won 4-1.
Halifax were very disappointed in what was a hard fought match, but there was plenty to take from the game in order to bounce back for the next match. This time Halifax must put their chances away!
