Ladies 4s lost 3-1 away at Selby despite a great team effort in the evenly matched game.

Halifax travelled to 4th in the league Selby having suffered a 1-0 defeat in the home leg.

In an evenly matched game, two key players for Selby made all the difference as they regularly carved a path through the Halifax midfield and defence.

Player of the Match Amy Marsh worked hard in midfield, backed up by Annie Denton, feeding the ball to the forwards. In a game that saw Halifax getting plenty of the play, it was frustrating that they couldn’t find the back of the net despite a series of short corners. Keeper Sash Penny-Ward kept the deficit to 2-0 at half time.

In the second half, Halifax upped their game and attacked from the start.

Leah Kalter put in some crucial tackles, distributing the ball well. Leigh Hirst picked the ball up on the edge of the area, taking it wide passed the defenders before passing in for Phoebe Tomlinson to deftly beat the keeper to make it 2-1.

Halifax kept up the pressure but a break from the back saw Selby increase the lead to 3-1, which how the score remained.

Several players received votes for Player of the Match indicating a good team effort.
