Halifax put the disappointment of the loss in their last game behind them and started the game confidently.
Tadcaster attacked from the push back but didn’t get far before the Halifax midfield gained possession for the home team. Leah Kalter and Leigh Hirst combined well to get the ball through to forwards Annie Denton and Phoebe Tomlinson.
Tadcasters experienced defence held firm, both teams evenly matched. Tadcaster started to test the Halifax defence of Sydney Midgley working hard alongside Rachel Rosier. Keeper Sasha Penny-Ward made some strong saves until a rebound was struck from the edge of the goal area which, with no defenders moving, gave Tadcaster the lead. The visitors continued to pressure the Halifax defence with some swift runs up the wings with Amber Penny-Ward pushing the attack wide. Despite a both teams having goal scoring chances, the score remained 1-0 to Tadcaster at half time.
Halifax changed their formation with Anya Waslewski dropping back into defence and the midfield started to gain control. Sarah Batty worked hard down the right, linking well with Denton and Laura Armstrong up front. Tadcaster kept up the pressure with counter attacks but Claire Robertshaw who came on at right back let little pass her.
Halifax kept Tadcaster in their own and soon won a short corner. Tadcaster cleared the ball but only as far as Player of the Match Tomlinson who wove her way through the Tadcaster defence and passed the ball to Jo Hardingham who found the back of the net to equalise.
Despite further pressure from both teams, neither could find the net and the game ended in a draw, a result that reflected the match.
