Halifax extended their unbeaten run to 24 games when they beat Bingley Bees away last weekend. The first 20 minutes of the game saw Halifax dominate, with continued possession and several shots on goal, only to be denied by some fantastic saves by the Bingley goalkeeper. Both Izzy Crowe and Helen Williams came close to putting the away side ahead, but it was Crowe who broke the deadlock with a stunning solo effort and a brilliant finish. Bingley responded not long after, breaking through the Halifax defence to bring the game level at half time.
After the break, the game became closer with end to end play. Defenders Sam Garlinge and Zoe Ribchester managed to keep the Bingley attackers at bay. Halifax pushed on and some slick passing into the D saw a scramble in front of goal, which led to Crowe getting her second goal and putting Halifax ahead once again. A controversial penalty corner was then awarded to the home side, who managed to hit back and bring the scores level. In the last 10 minutes, Halifax were awarded a free hit just out side the 25 m line. Captain Jess Stott fired the ball into the D and Louise Evans managed to get a deflection on the ball. This went straight to Williams who smashed the ball into the top of the net to seal the win for Halifax.
