Sunday's game was a top of the table clash with Acomb being a tough side who were only a few points behind Halifax.
The away side put pressure on from the first whistle and some great play from the midfielders Margaret Bottomley, Adele Cocker, Ruth Prosser, Ellen Campsall and Claire Waldron.
This pressure led to several penalty corners and eventually, about 20 minutes into the first half, Bottomley slipped the ball to Cocker from a penalty corner and Cocker fired the ball into the net.
The constant pressure continued throughout the second half. The defence of Alison McManus, Jess Speight, Ruth Bury and Tracey Helliwell stayed tight and managed to deal with any danger from the home side.
Up front, Dani Parker, Michaela Holroyd and Rachel Hoyle all came close to scoring but were unable to convert.
The 1-0 win gave Halifax a vital 3 points before this weekends title deciding game against City of York III.
