Ladies 2nds win local derby match against Ladies 3rds to consolidate 2nd spot in the league

In their final match before the Christmas break, the Halifax Ladies II and III teams played one another. It was a good match with both teams performing well. It wasn’t long before the 2nds went 1-0 with a great goal from Dani Parker.
There was some slick passing from the 2nd team and the midfield of Margaret Bottomley, Ruth Prosser, Adele Cocker and Ellen Campsall connected well enabling Campsall to get the 2nd goal of the game making it 2-0 going into half time.
Halifax III goalkeeper, Claire Donson, made some fantastic saves in the 2nd half, stopping the 2nds from running away with the game. Rachel Hoyle and Charlie Moss were an attacking threat for the 3rd team and the defence of Alison McManus, Tracey Helliwell, Ruth Bury and Jess Speight dealt with this well. Campsall got her second goal halfway through the 2nd half and then a great solo effort from Bury, storming out of defence, saw the 2nds go 4-0 up.
However, the 3rds broke and got a consolation goal, with Caroline Newby putting the ball in the back of the net making the final score 4-1.
This sees Halifax II lying in 2nd place in Yorkshire Division 3 and Halifax III in 9th position.
