Top of the table clash for Ladies 2nds saw them battle back to earn a 3-3 draw away against Leeds Adel Carnegie

Leeds Adel Carnegie III 3-3 Halifax II

Scorers : Parker, Bury (2)

There were top of the table clashes in Yorkshire Division 2 this weekend. Halifax II were facing 4th place Leeds Adel Carnegie.

The game was tough from the first whistle. Leeds were very aggressive and won two penalty corners early in the first half, which they converted.

Halifax got into their stride and wasn’t long before some great passing from the midfield of Ruth Bury, Ruth Prosser, Claire Waldron and Ellen Campsall, saw Dani Parker get Halifax’s first goal.

However, Leeds managed to score again just before half time, leaving the away side trailing 3-1 going into the break.

Halifax defended well in the second half, Jess Speight, Alison McManus, Sue Kelly, Tracey Helliwell and keeper Annie Staples, managing to keep the home side out.

After some aggressive tackling from Leeds, Halifax were awarded a penalty flick with 10 minutes to go. Bury stepped up to make it 3-2. Halifax were a constant pressure with Michaela Holroyd and Margaret Bottomley surging forward. In the last minute of the game, Halifax were awarded another penalty flick, due to the defender saving the ball on the line with her foot. Bury stepped up again and slotted the ball in the net, claiming Halifax a well deserved point from a tough game.

This point sees Halifax still sitting at the top of Division 2.
