Ladies 2nds took a straight 11 to their away game at Slazengers but returned triumphant, edging a tough game 1-0 that moves them up to 4th

Slazengers II 0-1 Halifax II

Scorer : Hoyle

Half term saw the Halifax 2nd XI travel away to Slazengers with only 11 players.

The game was a tough one from the first whistle. Halifax were the dominant side, with midfielders Margaret Bottomley, Ruth Bury, Claire Waldron and Adele Cocker controlling the play. Slazengers were putting some good balls through to their attackers but the Halifax defence were able to keep them at bay. About 10 minutes before half time, Halifax won the ball in defence and Bury made a run through the middle of the field. A great ball was put through to Dani Parker up front, who dodged the keeper and passed it square to Rachel Hoyle, who then scored on her debut for the Halifax 2nds.

The second half saw some tight defending from Jess Speight, Alison McManus, Sue Kelly and Tracey Helliwell and goal keeper Annie Staples made some difficult saves in a crowded ‘D’ to ensure that Halifax came away with another win, securing another 3 points and moving up to 4th in Division 3.
