Canalside Terriers 2-1 Halifax II
Scorer : Parker
Halifax’s first away game of the season got underway with a positive start. Halifax passed the ball around well but were unable to convert any chances. Ruth Prosser and Margaret Bottomley worked tirelessly in midfield but the home side were keeping the Halifax strikers at bay.
Just before the half time whistle, a controversial umpiring decision awarded the home side with a penalty corner. The Terriers converted this and Halifax went into half time trailing.
In the second half, Halifax upped the tempo and put a lot of pressure on the home defence. Michaela Holroyd, Claire Waldron and Dani Parker all came close to levelling the game.
The Terriers broke and shot on goal. Alison McManus almost saved the ball on the line, but it was deemed to have crossed the line making the score 2-0.
Halifax stepped it up a gear and for the last 20 mins of the game were on top. Some fantastic passing through the midfield from Prosser, Ellen Campsall and Adele Cocker, saw the ball crossed into the ‘D’ and with a sweeping hit, Parker put the ball in the net.
The game finish 2-1 which was a disappointing result for the Halifax II’s.
