In a well matched, tight game, the Ladies 2s lost 1-0 away at York

This week the ladies 2's faced the City of York with their team back in full after 4 squad members supported the first team last week. It looked as if the team were ready to take their second consecutive win after last weeks success against Driffield, facing a team below them in the league table.

The match started well for Halifax, with plenty of calm and composed possession. The ball was distributed well around the back. However York soon caught on and set a high press on the Halifax defence 15 minutes in putting a lot more pressure on the back four of Beccy Fisk, Cat Vose, Ruth Bury and Leah Kalter.

The first half ended 0-0 despite numerous attempts at goal from Sara Woodhead and Lydia Presley and continuous hard work from joint man of the match Ruth Prosser and Jo Love. Several attacks from York were saved by Halifax's captain Beccy Fisk who by no means had a quiet match. Halifax were unlucky to concede in the second half, when York gained a penalty corner and a shot on goal was deflected by Leah Kalter, to a York player who scored the only goal of the match.

Halifax responded, increasing their work rate in a strong team performance, but were unable to find the back of the net. Despite numerous attempts in the oppositions dee, the well matched sides ended the game with a 1-0 win to the City of York. Halifax ladies 2s unfortunately could not continue their winning streak, but hope to come back strong against Huddersfield Dragons at home on Saturday.
