Bridlington took the points at Park Lane against the Ladies 2s narrowly winning 2-1

In yet another bottom of the table clash, Bridlington were travelling to Park Lane to tackle the mighty whites for the second time this season. The previous score was 9-0, but now being only one above them in the league, Halifax were hopeful to put up a strong fight against them.

The match started with some obvious nerves from both teams, the first ten minutes were shaky, but both teams found their feet quickly. The Halifax defence was as strong as ever, with player of the day April Hendy stepping up and making some great tackles alongside Cat Vose and Steph Hoyle.

Halifax saw some early attacking chances throughout the first half, but unlike Bridlington who scored a goal in the first half making it 1-0, Halifax weren’t able to convert. The second half ended 1-0 after Beccy Fisk made some tough saves to keep Halifax in the game.

The second half was a more eventful one, both teams came in with 110%. After a short corner from Halifax, a Bridlington player got a brutal stick to head and was swiftly taken to Halifax Hospital with a split forehead.

Despite the stoppage in play, Halifax managed to equalise with about 15 minutes of the match to go, with Rebecca Hargreaves shot being deflected goal bound by Louise Evans before Harriet Wood got the final touch.

From the restart a highly skilled Bridlington player proved the most vulnerable time is immediately after a team has scored, taking on the Halifax defence alone and getting a shot off that ended the game in a 2-1 loss for Halifax.
