City of York took all the points with a 4-0 away win against Ladies 2s

The match started with Halifax on the back foot and in the first 15 minutes York enjoyed a lot of possession and applied pressure on the Halifax defence. There was some good defending from Steph Hoyle, Rebecca Murray and Cat Vose but Halifax struggled to keep possession and get out of their own half. Eventually the pressure told and City of York took the lead with an exchange of passes round keeper Becky Fisk.

Halifax belatedly strung some passes together and began to look threatening themselves with Louise Bottomley and Rebecca Hargreaves linking well in midfield.

Having gained some confidence Halifax pushed forwards in the second half through April Hendy, Anna Butterworth and Rebecca Murray and nearly drew level on several occasions. Courtenay Fisher became a real influence on the game and she troubled the York defence more than once. Sara Woodhead was well positioned when found by a Fisher cross, narrowly missing the goal.

Halifax were left to rue the missed opportunities when York scored against the run of play. This seemed to shatter Halifax's confidence and resolve and York took advantage of the disarray in defence with a couple of quality finishes in the dying minutes.
