Ladies 2s lost narrowly 1-0 in in a tough fixture away to City of York 2s

Halifax ladies 2nds had a tough game away to City of York, who were laying third in the Yorkshire Premier League.

Halifax spent most of the first period in their defending half with Cat Vose having another solid game at the back and player of the match Rebecca Murray providing dogged resistance.

The Halifax midfield managed to break through to have a few shots on goal, but none of the shots made it into the back of the net and as half time approached York made their pressure tell beating the on form Beccy Fisk in the Halifax goal to take a lead into the interval.

After half time Halifax came out with renewed vigour and put together their best 35 minutes of the season to date.

Rebecca Hargreaves and Emily Wilkinson troubled the York defence but despite good positions Halifax failed to find the break through.

In the final five minutes Halifax were camped in the York goal circle, and went close to equalising through Hargreaves and Harriet Wood but the final whistle came to the aid of York leaving the resulting score 1-0.

Despite another defeat Halifax will be able to take many positives from a much better performance.
