Striker Michaela Holroyde took her scoring tally for the weekend to 5 as Halifax 2nds beat Doncaster 3rds in the Yorkshire Cup.

Halifax's promotion last season meant they would play in the Yorkshire Cup this season.

They travelled to Doncaster to play a team in the league above them.

The away side built on the success of the previous day and played with speed and skill from the first whistle. Halifax had youth on their side and were dominant throughout the first half. They went into the break goalless.

Defenders Jen Brennan, Natalie Tyson, Laura Neimantas and Jess Speight prevented Doncaster converting early on in the second half.

Ellen Campsall, Ruth Prosser, Hannah Wilcock, Steph Hoyle and April Hendy played some lovely hockey in the middle of the park and this led to the first goal of the game, Michaela Holroyde adding to her weekends tally.

Emma Crawford came close to getting Halifax's second goal, but unselfishly, passed to Holroyde who converted her second of the game.

Doncaster were awarded a dubious penalty corner, which led to a penalty flick. Goalkeeper Annie Staples was unlucky not to save and the home side got a goal.

Halifax stayed tight until the final whistle and came away with a win. This sees them go through to the next round of the cup.
