Halifax's men's 3rd string came away shell shocked, scoring a last minute penalty corner to draw 1-1 against City of York in a game they dominated.

Halifax started the game much brighter than their opponents and great work from Ryan Dransfiled and Simon Meredith created half chances for Dave Collins and Aidan Crowe which they were unable to convert despite their best efforts.

Gary Parry and Casey Marshall controlled the midfield and never allowed City of York into the game. With a full allocation of substitutes captain Nick Walton continusly shuffled the pack to try and get the break through.

Time and time again the whites were inches away from taking the lead and with half time looming almost took the lead from a short corner when Jamie Maddock's wide shot was almost diverted in by the promising Oliver Stokes at the back post.

At half time, Halifax again made changes with Tom Cullen sent on to try and find the elusive goal.

From the start of the second half it was clear it was going to be a case of de ja vu for the Halifax side as Paul Mayes and Paul Wheatley battle to create chances for Halifax with Wheatley missing a golden opertunity to give Halifax the lead.

Man of the match Matty Ward battled hard to keep a York side growing in confidence at bay. Keeper Owen Waites had little to do and when York did counter attack their advances were snuffed out by Maddock and Walton.

It was Halifax's drive for the goal which ultimately cost them as York broke quickly and in numbers. A cross to the back post was diverted by the advancing keeper to make the score 1-0 in what had been a one sided affair. The goal sparked Halifax into action and printed a period of great passing amongst the midfield and the pace from Jack Willis began causing the York defence real problems.

Finally, Halifax got their second short corner of the half. This time Cullen made no mistake with a top draw drag flick, hitting a York player on the line before the keeper pushed the ball over the line for the Halifax equaliser.

With minutes left Halifax were unable to add a second and left the field feeling it was two points lost rather than one point gained.
