Halifax 3s 5-1 Leeds Adel
The sun was shining on Halifax men’s 3rd XI as they dominated their first match of the season to earn a convincing 3 points.
Halifax pressured from the whistle and were rewarded with an early goal from man of the match Dave Collins on his return from an 18 month hockey hiatus. A bit of all round early season rustiness with basic passing and stopping was evident but that didn’t stop Halifax’s continued attacking play with 2 more goals in quick succession from Jake Waddington and Dave Collins.
Any hopes of a clean sheet were dashed before half time as Adel scored from a penalty corner with a tricky to defend looping deflection into the top corner.
The second half saw more of the same from Halifax but with more assured ball control. Some excellent pivoting distribution from Aiden Crowe and Steven Fawkes in defence supplied Mike Brennan for numerous scything runs through Adel’s defence to provide more chances for Halifax.
With an uncanny knack, Dave Collins was once again in the right place at the right time with a deft touch to complete his hat trick and Jake capped things off with a decisive thumping goal.
A great team performance all round, Halifax will be hoping to carry some momentum into their top of the table clash next week.
