The mens 3rd X1 continued their excellent unbeaten run with a comfortable 4-0 win over Boston Spa 3rds at park Lane.
From the start it looked like the team were stronger than their visitors and while they were not at their best, they had a large % of possession.
Nigel Bowers, Simon Meredith and Paul Graham controlled the midfield with Cameron Hellowell and Michael Broadbent making penetrating runs into the Boston Spa danger areas.
The 1st goal came from a good move down the right flank with Sean Fitzpatrick and Rob Keene involved and the ball into the D was cleverly deflected into the net by dave Collins. Shortly afterwards Broadbent made it 2-0 slipping the ball past the keeper from a tight angle after a great pass from Meredith. Jamie Maddock, Graham Rodgers and Paul Mayes were rarely troubled in defence and when needed were very solid..
2-0 at half time with the 2nd half contuining in the same vein. Collins had a couple of good chances to increase the lead but the Spa keeper made some good saves.
The slick penalty corner routine of Graham to Maddox proved decisive with Maddox hammering 2 excellent sots into the corner of the net to make it 4-0. Spa did mount a few counter attacks but John Kalter in the Halifax goal should some good positional sense making a couple of saves and producing some good clearing kicks.
The win puts the team on top of division 5 North but they are yet to play some of the top sides which will be a big test for their promotion hopes
