A fine hat-trick from jake bamforth and a good team performance made sure Halifax got back on track to win promotion to the Yorkshire Premier League

The 7-0 win against lowly Hull could have been more with skipper Matthew Graham hitting both the post and bar and other chances did go begging.

Bamforth starting the demolition after 15 minutes with a neat pick up and shot from a nice through ball from Josh Sutcliffe. He added his 2nd 5 minutes later showing good composure after wrong footing the keeper.

Matthew Bairstow who looked much sharper than in the previous weeks was always dangerous and he was 1st to a deflection to delicately flick the ball past the keeper to make it 3-0.

Gabe coleman was rewarded for his hard work with the 4th goal just before 1/2 time flicking the ball past the diving Hull keeper.

The 2nd half was a little flat with the game clearly won but the team continued to play passing hockey and goals came at regular intervals.

Bamforth completed his hatrick cooly rounding the keeper when 1 on 1.

Josh barron who had an excellent game at right back scored a great team goal ghosting into the far post after 6 team passes and a lovely cross from Graham.

Graham completed the scoring beating 2 players and calmly flicking home at a penalty corner routine.

Henry Shelton was outstanding in the heart of the Halifax defence and while Matthew Metcalfe was not busy in the Halifax goal, he did make some competent saves when required and deserves praise for his 4th clean sheet of the season.

Halifax were without the strong defensive skills of Michael Jones who was on a 1 match ban and if all the players are available for the top of the table clash at Rotherham next week, team selection will be competitive.

A draw at Rotherham will be enough to see the team promoted although a win will see them claimed champions without having to get a result in the last game of the season at home to bottom of the table Doncaster 3s.
