The team started brightly and it looked like it might be another easy afternoon when Tom Love opened the scoring with a well taken goal after good approach play from Matthew Graham, Matthew Bairstow and Jake Bamforth.
However, for some unknown reason the quality in the Halifax play just vanished and Henry Shelton, Josh Foreman and Michael Jones were having to defend far too much in the heart of the Halifax defence.
Matthew Metcalfe also had to make a couple of sharp saves to deny Sheffield an equaliser.
While the score remained 1-0, the game was in the balance. Top scorer Graham settled the nerves calmly flicking the ball home from a penalty corner after a nice set up from Jones.
Soon after the game was settled when Graham made space for himself and played a gorgeous pass into the hard running Love who crashed the ball high into the net.
Jones completed a 4-0 win when he somehow managed to get into the Sheffield D before firing a reverse stick shot into the bottom corner of the net.
A good 3 points from a game where the team were far from at their best.
They do stay firmly at the top of Yorkshire 1 well clear of the chasing pack and their nearest rivals Rotherham who also won.
The team travel to North Lincolnshire next, to take on dangerous Normanby Park and they will hope to get back to some quality play and get a positive result.
