Men's 1sts fightback to extend unbeaten run
Men's 1st XI made it 4 wins from 4, but it took an excellent fightback from the team to come from 3-1 down to win 5-3 away to Leeds.
The game started with Halifax looking the more likely and it was Gabe Colemen who tapped in the 1st goal after good work from Jake Bamforth who rounded the keeper before slipping the ball to Coleman.
Halifax have a few further chances but the Leeds keeper was in fine form. Leeds then had a purple patch and Halifax obliged with some woeful defending. 3 goals were conceded in a 10 minute spell with half time coming at a good time to allow the team to re group.
The half time talk was about showing character and a need to stop the Leeds playmaker from dominating the midfield.
Coleman and Josh Sutcliffe obliged and Leeds were unable to provide quality ball to their forwards - Leigh Walker, Henry Shelton, Josh Foreman and Simon Arch took control at the back and laid on an excellent platform for the dangerous attacking flair of Matthew Bairstow, Bamforth, Michael Jones, Tom Love and Coleman.
The team started to tear holes in the Leeds defence as the game opened up with regular goals being scored, firstly with a tremendous drag flick from Jones then an equaliser from Bairstow tapping in after Love and Jones had drawn the defence out of position.
The team were on a roll with Coleman finishing off another good move involving Peter Balmforth, Sutcliffe and Richard Marshall. Bamforth completed the scoring with an slick interchange with Jones, flicking the ball home after passing it around the keeper.
A 5-3 win which gives the team their 4th straight 3 point result.
The team have the talent to mount a promotion push so they will need to work on consistency. With a few players unavailable over the next few weeks- the strength of the squad will be tested.
