Men's 1sts share points in top of table clash

The game was a tight and fiesty affair with both teams realising the importance that 3 points could make in determining promotion.

Halifax started the better and for 10 minutes there was only one team in it.

Michael Jones scored for Halifax to give them an early lead beating 2 defenders before scoring in the bottom corner. From almost their 1st serious attack, Leeds equalised with Matthew Metcalfe disappointed when he saw the Leeds shot go under his body.

This goal lifted |Leeds and they dominated the next 20 minutes scoring 2 more goals to go in at half time 3-1 up.

The half time talk was about working hard and being more competitive and the young Halifax team responded well.

Peter Balmforth, Ryan Dransfield and Tom Love maintained possession better in the midfield and allowed Matthew Graham and Matthew Bairstow to create more of a threat to Leeds.

Jake Bamforth was having another good game and when he made a good run towards goal, the Leeds defence were forced to foul him. Bamforth himself took the resultant penalty and scored with a strong flick into the top corner.

Halifax were now creating chances and got a deserved equaliser vafter good work from Graham and Leigh Walker allowed Josh Sutcliffe to turn in the shooting D and score into the far corner.

The last 10 minutes was end to end with both teams going for the win. Dave Wheatley and Josh Foreman made some timely tackles in defence and Graham went close with a reverse stick snap shot.

Both teams have players sin binned as the tension mounted but It ended 3-3 which on reflection was a fair result.

Halifax remain top but are only 2 points ahead of 3 teams chasing. A win next week away to mid table Lincoln would mean that only a point would be needed for promotion in their last match the following week.
