Halifax 1sts 3 - 2 Wakfield 3rds
Scorers: Graham M, Bairstow, Bamforth
The Halifax lads continued their good form from last week with a second consecutive win, this time against Wakefield.
It was a frustrating 1st half with Halifax completely dominating possesion, missing several good chances then seeing Wakefield take the lead with a rare counter attack.
Dave Wheatley, Simon Arch, Leigh Walker and Michael Jones were rarely troubled in the Halifax defence and Keeper Matthew Metcalfe had only 1 save to make in the 1st half.
Matthew Graham set the team on their way (10 minutes into the 2nd period) with a thunderous strike that gave the Wakefield keeper no chance.
This equaliser really spurred the team on and a second goal followed when Matty Baistow picked up a loose ball to fire a strong shot into the roof of the net.
Jake Balmforth made it 3 - 1 after a superb ball from Jones found Graham on the left wing, his pass to Balmforth was inch perfect and he made no mistake taking it around the keeper to score. It should have been game over but Halifax took their foot off the gas and allowed Wakefield more possession.
Peter Bamforth steadied the nerves with some good midfield play and Josh Sutcliffe also played well to win possession for the team.
Both teams had 2 sin binnings each as the game became fractuous and despite Wakefield finding a second goal from a short corner, the team deservedly held onto the 3 points (3-2 win)
