This was a great league winning performance from the team with captain Matthew Graham the star of the show with an tremendous hatrick.
The game started with the home side dominating possession, creating chances but failing to take them.
It took until the 25th minute for the team to open the scoring with a lovely ball from Michael Jones finding Matthew Graham 1 on 1 with the last defender, Graham beat his man before cooly flicking the ball into the corner past the advancing keeper.
Matthew Bairstow soon made it 2 being quickest onto a loose ball firing in a great shot from a narrow angle.
Graham got his 2nd smashing the bouncing ball from waist height into the top corner and Jones made it 4-0 with an excellent drag flick from a penalty corner just before half time.
The half time talk was about maintaining the tempo of the game and keeping possession so as not to allow Brigg back into the game.
Josh Sutcliffe, Tom Love, Peter Bamforth and Ryan Dransfield worked hard to achieve this and Graham made it 5-0 midway through the half with a shot from a narrow angle that was probably the fastest moving ball seen at the pitch ever(the Brigg keeper not even having time to move at all - amazing skill and technique).
The game began to fizzle out as there was only going to be one winner and some sloppy play at the back from Halifax allowed Brigg to get a consolation and deny Matthew Metcalfe the clean sheet he deserved for a very good performance in goal.
Jake Balmforth scored Halifax’s 6th goal cooly pushing the ball into the corner after a goalmouth scramble.
A good finish to a highly successful season for this young team who can look forward to maintaining the improvements made this year in Yorkshire Division 1 next season.
