Disappointing draw for Men's 1sts

It was a disappointing 2-2 draw on Saturday against a Worksop team previously beaten convincingly.

The stats speak for themselves with Halifax creating at least 10 good chances and Worksop only 3.

Missed chances were the order of the day. On the plus side, the team are trying to develop their passing game and rely less on route 1 but they have some way to go with this to ensure more positive results.

Matthew Bairstow had a good game regularly beating his marker to create attacking options. Bairstow however, was guilt of a wayward shot when having time in the D. Josh Sutcliffe was also guilty of missing the target when in a good position.

Against the run of play Worksop took the lead taking advantage of a weak clearance to slam the ball home against an unsighted Matthew Metcalfe in the Halifax goal.

After Jake Bamforth had 2 good efforts well saved by the Worksop keeper he was well composed to score from the 3rd chance to equal the scores at half time.

Leigh Walker marshalled the midfield well early in the second half and penalty corners were won regularly, from the 3rd won Matthew Graham scored following in to force the ball home after his 1st shot was saved.

The team then looked likely winners but top scorer Graham was having an off day and failed to take a couple of chances that would have made the game safe.

This gave Worksop more hope and they equalised when a speculative aerial pass was missed by centre back David Wheatley allowing the Worksop centre forward to slam the ball home from close range.

The last 10 minutes was all Halifax but Worksop hung on bravely. 2-2.
