Halifax Under 16 A Girls 1 - York 0
The Halifax Under 16 A Team started with an incredibly strong performance against York. The girls had approximately 75% possession in the first game pressing the opposition in their half for most of the game. Despite their domination in midfield with Hanah Speakman, Leah Kalter and Amy March linking well and feeding the ball forward constantly, the defence kept them at bay. It took a superbly powerful and quick ball out by Anya Wasilewski straight to Annie Denton who held her nerve and calmly slotted the ball passed the advancing keeper to get the goal and win they deserved.
Halifax Under 16 A Girls 2 - Harrogate 0
Once again the team dominated, fighting hard to take the league title and promotion once again. Despite several efforts the Harrogate keeper was amazing and kept them out of the lead. It took a series of 1 - 2 passing moves between Regan Midgley and March in to the D where March struck hard and fast to beat the keeper and take the lead. Harrogate fought back and it took strong defending from Sydny Midgley, Regan Midgley, Emma Whittaker and goal keeper Kathy Shao to stop them from achieving an equaliser. After further forays into the Harrogate goal mouth a great pass from Charlotte Taylor came straight to Emily Crowe who cleverly deflected the ball passed the keeper to take the spoils 2 - 0.
