Junior Tournament

The boys U12 team had their 1st tournament of the year with only 2 of last years team remaining so there were a lot of new players on show. The lads had 5 matches in a league of 6 at leeds Adel hockey club.

1st game against a skilful Ben Rhydding team saw the new players settle in well with William Sheriff and Xander Watkins both making good contributions to a 2-1 win. Archie King scoring both goals.

2nd game showed the teams inexperience and a strong Airedale attack exploited the spaces to win the game3-0 although it was not all one sided but the team lacked the cutting edge.

3rd game against Airedale B team allowed the boys more time against weaker opposition. Keane Kendall scored a well taken goal and centre forward Rhys Hancock helped himself to a hat trick in the 4-0 win.

4th game against Wakefield saw the team dominate with Reuban Siddall outstanding and deservedly getting the 1st goal with Kendall making the game safe at 2-0.

5th game against Sheffield was to decide which team would be promoted to the higher division and the team started brightly with both King and Ayden Dines controlling the midfield. Siddall and Hancock went close with the former hitting a post and seeing 2 shots cleared off the line. Unfortunately Sheffield broke away at the end of the game and their centre forward struck a great shot that young keeper Euan Hancock could not save. A 1-0 defeat was a little harsh but the team will stay in this league and hope to get promotion at the next tournament in November.

A really good start to the season.
