The Club enjoyed an encouraging start to the new season, with victories for the Ladies' 1st XI, Men's 2nd XI and Men's 3rd XI, while the Men's 1st XI staged a dramatic late comeback to earn a point. Elsewhere, the Ladies' 2nd XI battled to an entertaining 4-4 draw away at Skipton and the Ladies' 3rd XI were narrowly beaten 1-0 away at Harrogate 5s.

Ladies’ 1st XI Make Winning Start

The Ladies' 1st XI opened their new campaign in style with a superb 3-1 victory over Slazengers.

The first half proved a difficult introduction to life in a new league as Halifax adjusted to a new formation and several new faces. Slazengers took the lead through a fortunate goal, leaving Halifax with work to do at the break.

Whatever was said during coach Andy Kaye's half-time team talk clearly did the trick.

Halifax emerged transformed after the interval, moving the ball with far greater fluency. Courtenay Fisher drew the sides level before experienced striker Dani Parker put Halifax ahead after earlier seeing opportunities go begging.

The contest briefly threatened to boil over following a touchline disagreement that resulted in the Slazengers coach being shown a green card, but Halifax remained focused.

Fisher then added her second and Halifax's third to put the game beyond doubt and secure an impressive opening-day victory.

Amy March earned special praise and player of the match after a dominant display in midfield that helped drive her side forward throughout the second half.

Men’s 1st XI Fight Back to Earn Point

Halifax Men's 1st XI showed real character to rescue a 2-2 draw against City of York 3s after trailing by two goals at half-time.

The opening exchanges were evenly contested, but York struck twice midway through the first half, capitalising on a defensive mistake before adding a second following a goalkeeping error.

A determined Halifax side emerged rejuvenated after the break and began to impose themselves on the game. Player of the match Harry Crane was at the heart of much of the team's best attacking play, causing constant problems with his direct running.

The pressure finally told when last season's leading scorer Michael Jones picked up a loose ball at the top of the circle and rifled a strike into the corner to halve the deficit.

With Crane, Jones, Josh Sutcliffe, Tom Love and Amos Mackrill all threatening on the counter-attack, Halifax looked increasingly likely to find an equaliser. The visitors' goalkeeper produced a series of fine stops, but Halifax's persistence was rewarded in the dying moments.

Crane won a penalty corner in the final minute and Jones was on hand once again to squeeze home the leveller and snatch a deserved point.

A special mention also goes to coach Andy Kaye, who rolled back the years and stepped in with a substitute appearance in midfield.

Men’s 2nd XI Deliver Professional Performance

Halifax Men's 2nd XI began their season with a well-earned 2-0 victory away at Acomb.

The visitors started brightly and created numerous chances before Cam Kew opened the scoring to give Halifax a deserved half-time lead.

Halifax continued to dominate after the interval and extended their advantage when Sam Spencer found the net around the 55-minute mark.

The scoreline could have been even more convincing, with new signing Nicky Elson striking the crossbar and the Acomb goalkeeper producing several excellent saves.

Acomb rallied in the final ten minutes, but Halifax's defence stood firm to preserve an impressive clean sheet.

Ethan Geal claimed player of the match honours after excelling both at right-back and right wing, while Jacob Westmoreland impressed in midfield. There were also strong contributions from Jack Laycock and Herbie Robinson, the latter making an excellent debut after stepping up from the Men's 3rd XI.

Men’s 3rd XI Open with Hard-Earned Victory

Halifax Men's 3rd XI kicked off their campaign with a determined 1-0 home win over Aire Valley 3s.

With just 11 players available, goalkeeper Lee Power was forced into an outfield role while Alex Eastwood stepped up to make his senior goalkeeping debut.

Despite creating the better chances in a closely fought first half, Halifax were unable to break the deadlock. Pete Howard, Jeremy Mackrill and Toby Egan-Brook all came close, while Aire Valley were kept at bay by disciplined defending and a confident display from young goalkeeper Eastwood.

The winning goal finally arrived during the second half. After Chris Knight struck the post, Egan-Brook reacted quickest to the loose ball, coolly finding the net with a backhand finish from close range.

As both sides tired late on, Aire Valley pushed hard for an equaliser and won several penalty corners. Halifax's defence stood strong, however, to secure all three points and an ideal start to the season.
