The U14 boys played their latest Yorkshire league games at Ben Ryhdding

With 3 key players unavailable, it was going to be a difficult 2 games.

Michael Brook cam in to the team from the U12s and did well in his 1st ever 11-a-side games on the full pitch. Leah Kalter also came in from the girls U14 team and did a fine job marshalling the defence.

The 1st game against Slazengers was about taking chances as Halifax had more attempts on goal but could not beat the outstanding Slazengers stopper. Kaenan Sutcliffe was denied on 3 or 4 occasions and when he did find a strong shot he saw in re bound of a post. Slazengers were more clinical scoring 2 well worked goals to win the game 2-0.

In the second game, Joe Costello continued to work hard and push the team forward and Noah Thomis showed a lot of skill to create space for Josh Meacham and Tom Crowther but they were unable to get enough power in their shots on goals. Huddersfield started to dominate possession as Halifax tired and took a deserved lead. Jack Thomson who had an excellent morning was very close to scoring the goal of the season making a 70 metre run from the defence, beating a couple of Huddersfield defender before going round the keeper only to lose control at the last minute. Huddersfield scored a 2nd goal to kill of any hope of a Halifax revival.

2 defeats but on the whole the team played well and must now work on their hitting and moving the ball over longer distances in a quicker fashion if they are to win these games
