Latest round of U12 boys junior hockey took place at Leeds Uni.

After 2 consecutive promotions the Halifax team were now playing against some quality teams and they started with some quality play themselves.

In the 1st game against Driffield, Michael Brook was dominant in the heart of the defence and this allowed Finlay Owen-Smith, Noah Thomis and sophie Hall plenty of ball to create chances. Only one goal was scored despite their dominance with Owen-Smith finishing off a fine move after good work from Rhys Hancock and Thomis. 1-0 win.

It was a similar story against Ben Rhydding but 2 splendid goals gave the team a 2-o win, Hancock and Thomis were the scorers.

3rd game V leeds was a different story as the team had to endure a lot of pressure. Georgia King was excellent with good positioning and some great kick saves. Charlie Glenn also worked hard to deny Leeds. However they were unable to hold out with Leeds scoring 2 late goals for a 2-0 win.

The final game was an end to end affair against Chapeltown with their keeper outstanding to deny Hancock and Thomis. Owen-Smith got the 1st goal of the match but it was short lived as Chapeltown equalised within a few minutes. Brook was getting forward and using his skill and speed to create openings but it was not to be and in the last minute, a mistake in the Halifax defence allowed Chapeltown the space for a last gap winner in a game they did not deserve to lose.

The 2 wins should ensure they remain in this league for the next tournament in February.

Well done to all the players who are really showing excellent progress.
