Latest U14 Boys Yorkshire League Tounament

The Halifax HC U14 boys team played their latest Yorkshire league tournament and while playing well, the team did not get the results they deserved.

Game 1 :

Against a strong Huddersfield team who went on to win their next 2 games comfortably.

The Halifax boys started slowly and were pinned back in their own half for the 1st 10minutes and deservedly went 1-0 behind.

However, this woke the players up with the skilful Kaenan Sutcliffe calling the shots in midfield and Sam Bizley and Bailey Bragbrough making excellent runs into the Hudderfield D.

A fine move involving Jacob Edmondson, Lucas Metcalf, Alex Gloag and Bragbrough saw Bizley slam in a fine equaliser. The Halifax team then started to dominate but were unable to get a winner.

GAME 2 :

2nd game against Leeds Adel saw the team totally dominant but Leeds opened the scoring with their 1st attack.

Harrison Thomis in the Halifax Goal was then a spectator as Halifax camped in the Adel 25.

Chances came and went as the players all tried to get in on the act. Tom Whittington and Oliver Simmons provided plenty of passes into the danger areas but it looked like the team were destined not to score until Blagbrough managed to squeeze the ball in from a tight angle. Time ran out and they had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

GAME 3 :

3rd game against a skilful Chapletown team was a bit more even although Halifax clearly had more possession.

Inspired goalkeeping from the Chapletown keeper denied Bizley, Sutcliffe and Joe Costello. Chapletown were dangerous on the break but Harry Stobart was outstanding in the heart of the Halifax defence with good support from Noah Thomis who was drafted in from the U12s .

Just as the game looked like ending 0-0, Chapletown scored in the last minute against the run of play to win the game 1-0 and rather spoil what was a good effort from the lads.
