Latest U16 Girls Tournament took place at Harrogate Hockey Club

Halifax attended this tournament with eleven outfield players and no
designated keeper so it was draw a name out of the hat for each game.

GAME 1 : HALIFAX 1 - 1 LEEDS
This was an evenly fought game with each team looking dangerous on the counter attack. Regan Midgley made a couple of good saves in goal to keep the opposition at bay. Good work down the right by Robyn Fawkes and Anna Butterworth saw a cross fired across the 'D' by Fawkes which was met by Katie Illingworth at the far post who slotted the ball home to give Halifax the lead. Halifax could have extend their lead further with narrow misses from Lydia Robinson and Annie Denton. As the final whistle drew near a last attack by Leeds saw a goal mouth scramble, with the ball somehow ending up in the back of the Halifax goal after several infringements. It was an unfortunate end to a game the team deserved to win

GAME 2 : HALIFAX 1 - 0 HARROGATE
Next name out of the hat for goal keeper was Denton, she was quickly called into action following early pressure by Harrogate but some fine kicking saw her confidence grow. After a slow start Halifax began to find their feet with good work down the wings by Niamh Brennan and Midgley. Halifax spawned a couple of good chances to take the lead with Robinson and Illingworth both shooting wide.
Halifax pressure eventually told with a short corner shot by Fawkes rocketing into the Harrogate net. Halifax defence of Amber Penny- Ward, Jess Wilson, Rachel Costello and Leah Kalter stood firm providing excellent protection for their stand in keeper.

GAME 3 : HALIFAX 0 - 2 NORTHALLERTON
Halifax entered their last game knowing a win would earn them promotion, unfortunately the name out of the hat for keeper was Fawkes. Halifax were immediately under pressure from the start resulting in a string of saves by Fawkes, unfortunately Halifax failed to clear the ball adequately and the continued bombardment resulted in Northallerton taking the lead. Halifax battled in mid field for possession through Butterworth and Midgley, a good cross
from Illingworth saw the ball bounce to Robinson whose first time shot struck the Northallerton keeper on the chest. Some good work by Brennan down the left caused problems for Northallerton but their defence stood strong. Due to Halifax pressing forwards they were open to the counter attack and a lapse in Defence saw a Northallerton player unmarked in the Halifax 'D' who struck the ball home giving the Halifax stand in keeper no chance.
