The skilful visiters dominated the 1st of 4 quarters as Halifax struggled to get their game together.
However. they slowly got into the game with Jacob Maclean and Rhys Colwell getting more possession in midfield which allowed Halifax to attack the Aire Valley defence. No goals in the 1st quarter.
Ace Parker and Hayden Kelsey gained in confidence at the heart of the defence and gave their opposition very little space. Bhavan Sandhu was also playing well snuffing out any right wing attacks. Zora Sandhu and Amos Mackrill worked well together attacking the opposition D but were unable to find enough space to get any telling shots on target. Still no goals at half time despite some good interplay between Luke Pearson and Jamie Hereford
In the 3rd quarter some positional changes helped Halifax put more pressure on their visitors and both Archie Hall and Jacob Mackrill started to pass better and allowed the team to put pressure on the Aire Valley defence.
Unfortunately a moments lapse in defence allowed Aire Valley to open the scoring and the team went in 1-0 down going into the final quarter.
Halifax started well and with Pearson and Maclean pushing the team forward. The skill of Coldwell allowed him to find space in the D and he equalised with an unstoppable shot. Soon after Colwell received a fine pass from Kelsey and he found speedy Hereford who burst past the defence to fire into the far corner.
A late rally saw Aire Valley equalise which in truth was a fair result. 2-2draw
The real winners were all the players who enjoyed a competitive match after missing so much over the past 16 Months.
