ENGLAND HOCKEY LEAGUES

In March 2018 England Hockey agreed to changes to the structure of the Investec Women’s Hockey League and Men’s Hockey League. The changes will be implemented in the 2019-20 season.

These changes are the first step in adapting to the evolving landscape of the Hockey Pro League (and international player availability) and requests from clubs to review the domestic structure.

The EHL Leagues will change from four ten-team divisions (Premier, plus E, N & W Conferences), to six ten-team divisions (Premier, Div 1 North, Div 1 South, plus E, N &; W Conferences).

NORTH HOCKEY LEAGUES

Promotion from the Yorkshire League to the 2019-20 North Division 2 South

Promotion from the Yorkshire League to the 2019-20 North Division 2 South & relegation of teams in the Yorkshire Premier Division. This only affects the Yorkshire teams but it is causing some confusion among some clubs. It is only page 3 that has changed.

Previously, the teams finishing in 11th and 12th position in the Yorkshire Premier Division were shown in the new North Division 2 South for the 2019-20 season but will remain in the Yorkshire League for 2019-20.

North Division 2 South will now be composed of teams finishing in 2nd to 10th place in the 2018-19 Yorkshire Premier Division plus teams finishing in 1st to 3rd place in Yorkshire Division 1.

YORKSHIRE HOCKEY LEAGUES

WOMEN

The top nine teams in the current Premier Division will be moved up to the new East Pennine Division 2 South (part of the North Women's League)

The top nine teams in Div 1 will be moved into the Yorks Premier Division; and so on downwards.

Regional Divisions

The current regional structure will be altered to:

Div 4NW and Div 4SE
Div 5N and Div 5W feeding into Div 4NW
Div 5S and Div 5W feeding into Div 4SE

Teams will be placed in regional division based on finishing position in 2018-19 and their geographical location.

The Women's League Committee will do their best to make sure that teams are placed in the most appropriate division.

MEN

The top team in the Premier Division will be placed into the NHL East Pennine Div 1.

The remaining 11 teams of the 2018-19 Premier Div will be placed in NHL East Pennine Div 2 South along with the top team in Yorks Div 1.

Regional Divisions

Teams will be placed in regional divisions based on finishing positions in 2018-19 and their geographical location. The Men's League Committee will do their best to make sure that teams are placed in the most appropriate division.
