Horsforth Ladies I 0-0 Halifax Ladies IV
Halifax Ladies 4ths visited the early leaders of Yorkshire Division 4, Horsforth, and quickly found out their league position was no mistake! Horsforth turned and attacked from the off which was met by good defensive work and Ella Cahill made the first of many good clearances.
Halifax weathered the early pressure and had several very promising breaks down the right, with Hannah Smith and Penny Haigh threatening to cut through the Horsforth defence but the final pass was continually cut out by Horsforth’s experienced sweeper.
Horsforth continued to dominate the first half and keeper Sharon Crawshaw was kept busy, making numerous saves, the best being an instinctive save with the glove as Horsforth thought they had found the top of the net.
The second half was much better for Halifax, as they started to use the space better and created more opportunities to send the ball into the D. The defence continued to see plenty of the ball and Lauren Gillespie, Cahill and Crawshaw shone. Halifax failed to take advantage when Horsforth went down to 10 players for 5 minutes but overall this was a good point against a good team.
