Ladies 3rds bag first win of season

Halifax started the match eager to earn their first win of the season.

Defenders Tracey Helliwell, Rachel Rosier, Cara Jones and Sharon Jones made sure Leeds were kept firmly away from Goal keeper Liz Stead.

In the first 10 minutes of the game, Halifax had a strong attempt on goal from Rebecca Greenwood but the ball was cleared by the Leeds keeper.

Harriet Wood played a relentless midfield position battling hard to take the ball forward for Halifax.

Stephanie Hoyle, Sarah Woodhead, Hannah Wilcock battled through in midfield helping the defence to clear the ball.

In the second half, returning from injury, Nicola Boulton teamed up with Emma Clarkson to put away the first and only goal of the game.

Leeds had a final attempt on goal but Stead made a diving save. Stead was awarded man of the match.
