Bradford were comfortably beaten 6-2 by the Ladies 3s as their great season continues

Halifax were rampant in a first half which put the result in little doubt. Robyn Fawkes opened the scoring after ten minutes, beating the keeper with a well struck shot when put through by a delightful pass from Courtenay Fisher.

Bradford were not without a threat with quick attackers and they levelled against the run of play. Fawkes restored Halifax’s lead shortly after picking up a through ball from Nicola Boulton to finish from close range.

Player of the match Fawkes then turned provider from a well worked short corner, with a neat return pass which Margaret Bottomley converted. The move was repeated soon after with the same result in a period which saw Halifax dominate the game.

In an action packed first half Bradford still threatened on the break and on one of the rare occasions when they beat the on form defensive skills of Alison McManus they hit back with a shot which squirmed under keeper Kiera Hayman.

Halifax had still not finished though and Gracie Oddy added a fifth goal to their tally when Regan Midgley’s neat pass found her in space before the interval.

The second half was by comparison a dull affair, with an injury to Midgley meaning that Halifax played the last quarter of the match out with only ten players. Sharon Crawshaw’s hard work saw Courtenay Fisher put through to hit a thunderous shot past the luckless Bradford keeper to seal an eventful match.

This result sees Halifax third string move up to third place in Division Four of the Yorkshire League going into the Christmas break.
