Ladies 3s took home another 3points in a solid 2-0 win over Batley

Halifax third string kept their good run of form going and recorded a sixth straight win to go fourth in the table.

Halifax were on top from the start with some excellent passing moves causing Batley’s defence trouble and resulting in successive short corners. It was from one of these that Gracie Oddy converted from close range, quickly turning in a well struck shot at the left post.

Regan Midgley again played well in the centre of Halifax’s defence, breaking down any Batley attacks with the help of Jess Stott and Alison McManus and distributing the ball well to set up the next wave of attack. It wasn’t too long before Halifax doubled the score line when Nicola Boulton shot home after good play up the right by Oddy.

Despite being well on top in the second half Halifax failed to add to the score, managing to find the post when the keeper was beaten. Jess Stott made some classy tackles when Batley threatened to attack.

Such was Halifax’s superiority that Kiera Hayman in the Halifax goal didn’t touch the ball, yet some resolute defending by Batley and a jaded performance by the attackers left Halifax rueing the opportunity to increase their goal difference.
