Halifax enjoyed their third consecutive win with a 6-3 home victory over fellow promotion challengers Ben Rhydding

Halifax were ready for the challenge from the off, contesting every loose ball and showing determination despite some changes in the line up.

After a fine passage of play involving Gypsy Goldthorpe and Courtenay Fisher, they were able to put Sara Woodhead through on goal and she opened the scoring.

Ben Rhydding quickly hit back with a good goal of their own after outpacing the Halifax defence. In a period which saw a lot of action at either end of the pitch Woodhead scored another after good play up the left by Beth Smith.

Meanwhile Clare Donson, making a rare appearance in the Halifax goal kept Ben Rhydding at bay with the help of Alison McManus and Jess Stott.

Halifax gained the ascendency in the midfield and when Vicki Ferdinando was foiled by the keeper with two shots from close range one after the other, Fisher made sure when the ball broke to her on the edge of the goal circle; a powerful shot flying into the Rhydding net. This meant Halifax took a 3-1 lead into the break.

Woodhead turned provider not long into the second half, setting up fellow forward Ferdinando for her first of the game.

Ben Rhydding were not finished though and hit back to keep themselves in contention bringing the score back to 4-2

However, Ferdinando hadn't finished either, picking the ball up on the half way line to make a surging run through before finishing a great individual goal and stretching the lead back to 3 goals

In the final minutes when the ball broke to the edge of the circle defender Lydia Luxford got in on the act, with a thunderous shot - contesting Fisher’s for hardest hit of the day - to add Halifax’s final goal and at 6-2 would surely be too much for Ben Rhydding to come back from.

Ben Rhydding showed great resilience thorough and were able to mount one final attack, and catching Halifax off guard scored from the top edge of the circle in the dying moments.
