Men's 4th XI were denied victory away at Tadcaster, with the home side snatching a point in the last minute

Team: Owen Waite, Matt Harrison, Andrew Turner (Yes Back from Suspension), Neil Penny-Ward (C), Aiden Crowe, Gordon Hines, Paul Crowther, Mike Dronsfield, Jack Willis, Lee Chapman, Phil Green, Roy Atkinson

Halifax headed to Tadcaster on Saturday morning to take on second placed Tadcaster, having narrowly lost 2-1 at home spirits were high especially Owen Waite who turned up drunk. Little did we know how this would affect us come the end of the game.

Before the game started Matt Harrison, had injured himself and pulled his back so Aiden Crowe stepped off the bench to start with Matt taking his place.

1st Half
The game started well and the first 10 minutes was end to end. Both teams had chances to score and Tadcater were trying to baffle the Halifax defence with their short corner ping pong routines.

Halifax hit Tadcaster on the break as Lee Chapman and Phil Green combined (Yes Greeny can pass and run with a ball) to set up Paul Crowther to put Halifax 1-0 up and this boosted confidence. Soon after Tadcaster again made chances but failed to convert as Halifax grew in to the game and were dominating on the break. Tadcaster became frustrated and this resulted in Phil Green to put the ball into space as speedy Gonzalez Jack Willis ran on and put the ball past a flailing Tadcaster Keeper.

Tadcaster did pull a gaol back through a well worked short corner.

Half Time Tadcaster 1 – 2 Halifax 4th

Gordon Hines lead an inspired half time team talk William Wallace would have been proud of as he ensured Halifax would continue to fight for the game.

2nd Half

The second half started well again with both teams creating chances but Tadcaster edged it.

As the second half drew on both teams were trying to finish the game off well and mistakes started to creep in.

Gordon took William Wallace a little too far as he pushed the Tadcaster captain who wouldn’t give up the ball for a free hit.

Halifax took control but numbers were evened up as Captain Neil Penny-Ward was sent off for a rasied stick in the box from another Tadcaster ariel.

Andrew Turner took control as captain and rearranged the team to cope while Neil was off the pitch.

As the game came to a close Tdacaster were on top and broke away from a Halifax mistake, there striker went into the D and shot!!!!!!

Little did we know that Owen was to let the ball under his feet and that was that 2-2 the game ended and Halifax were gutted.

MOM – Jack Willis – Ran the game was the best player on the park and scored again

DOD – Owen Waite – Do i need to say anymore, he was drunk at hockey in the most important match
