Halifax returned to winning ways on Saturday against Acomb 2nd X1 winning 2-1

With a more determined and passionate performance than was evident in recent weeks; Andy Turner, Neil Penny-Ward , Trevor Love and Paul Graham were very assured in the Halifax Back 4 and this was a good platform for Jack Willis, Elliot Bullick and Phil Green to attack the Acomb defence.

Halifax took the lead when Roy Atkinson was in the correct place to slot the ball into the corner when Greens 1st shot was deflected.

Acomb then started to get more possession and got the equaliser when a shot was unluckily deflected into the roof of the net by Michael Broadbent.

With Graham having to leave the pitch at half time with an long standing calf injury, the reorganised team did really well with Broadbent having an excellent game at right back and Gordon Hines controlling things in midfield.

George English-Burns controlled the ball beautifully at the top of the D but unfortunately his shot went narrowly wide.

Soon after Willis scored what proved to be a winning goal after forcing the ball home even though he was clearly fouled while trying to shoot.

Owen Waites had to make a couple of sharp saves towards the end of the game as Acomb pressed for a winner but the team held on for a really good result.
