After the long trip to Bridlington last week, the Halifax players faced the daunting task of playing a Driffield 2nd X1 containing several players who only last season were playing in the Yorkshire premier league.
It was clear to see why they have won their 1st 4 games very convincingly.
It was a mis match at this level and while the visitors put plenty of effort in, a large loss was never in doubt.
Young keeper David Garside came of age with several really good saves and was constantly in the game but helplessly outnumbered with some of the Driffield goals.
Mick Brennan worked tirelessly in midfield and youngster Elliot Bullick caused the Driffield right back problems all afternoon.
Veterans Gordon Hines and Roy Atkinson were crowded out when Halifax did break out of defence and the Driffield keeper had little to do.
The team never gave up and continued to battle and compete throughout the game. Paul Graham, Trevor Love, Paul Crowther and Andy Turner all defended heroically but the speed of pass and movement from the Driffield forwards was such that they could not be denied.
A difficult afternoon but one the younger players can learn from as they go to Wakefield next Saturday to play Wakefiield 5th team.
