Mens 3s lost their 100% record with a hard earned 3-3 draw at home against York 7

The 1st 20 minutes saw York dominate possession without really troubling the solid Halifax defence of Jamie Maddock, Graham Rodgers, Paul Mayes and Rob Keene and it was Halifax who looked the more likely and sure enough from a swift counter attack.

Simon Meredith found Bailey Blagbrough in space and his shot was half stopped but not well enough as the ball found its way into the net.

Halifax had a sloppy last 10 minutes in the half with York scoring twice to go into half time 2-1 up.

Halifax came out for the 2nd half with plenty of determination and both Michael Broadbent and Jack Wilis making penetrative runs into the York D. Dave Collins was not his deadly self in front of goal but the team scored a deserved equaliser with a great move down the pitch and Broadbent finished the move off with some style.

Halifax now had the momentum and threatened the York goal and soon Blagborough got his 2nd with a lovely deflection after good work from Meredith and Paul Graham.

Just when the team looked like taking the 3 points, York scored a bizarre goal with the Halifax defence stopping after they felt that York had illegally hit the ball into the D. After the umpires conferred, unfortunately the goal was given to give York the equaliser.

Halifax pressed in the last 5 minutes but were unable to find the winner.

Next week is a rest week before the team take on Boston Spa.
