Men's 3s put in a sterling performance in a 1-1 draw with top of the table Bingley Bees

The Mens 3rd x1 put up a good show against runaway league leaders and were disappointed to only come away with 1 point after a competitive and high quality 1-1 draw with Bingley Bees 1st X1.

On a wet afternoon Halifax put out a strong squad and had more possession early on with Leigh Walker, Paul Graham and Paul Mayes dominating the middle areas of the pitch.

Top scorer Dave Collins was denied the opening goal with a superb reflect save form the Bees stopper after Collins had deflected a Lee Chapman cross goalwards.

Halifax continued to press with Michael Broadbent, Jack Willis and Cameron Hellowell in fine form but Bees were strong in defence and held firm. Bees took the lead against the run of play from a well taken penaly corner with Matthew Breton and Graham unable to stop the flick which found the corner of the net.

In the 2nd half the game opened up and was end to end. Halifax got a deserved equaliser when Broadbent broke clear to feed Collins who found Hellowell who burst into space before slamming the ball home. Willis and Chapman had good chances to score but were unable to get the shots on target and the last 10 minutes saw Halifax tire with Bees starting to get more possession.

Graham, Nick Walton, Harry Greenwood and Mayes had to work hard to defend the point which they did with some quality. The result leaves Halifax in the promotion mix as Mirfield in 2nd place lost to York.
