A 4-1 win over Leeds Adel keeps the Men's 3s in the hunt at the top of the table

After 3 consecutive cancellations, the 3rd X1 got their promotion push back on track with a good win against leeds Adel 4th X1 in Adel.

The 1st 10 minutes of the game were anything but good with the team struggling to put a pass together and Adel were in full control. Not surprisingly they took the lead with a soft goal which should have been cleared.

This goal was a wake up call with Jamie Maddock and captain paul Mayes deciding to keep possession and give play maker paul graham more of the ball to get the quick forward runners Cameron Helliwell and jack Willis into the game.

The whole game started to change with Halifax now dominating possession and top scorer dave Collins had a couple of good chances which were well saved. Collins did get the equaliser after good interplay with Michael Broadbent and sjust before half time graham sent Willis on a forward run and he burst into the D to score a very good solo effort.

The 2nd half continued in the same vein with keeper john kalter rarely needed with Sean Fitzpatrick and Rob Keene dealing comfortably with any Adel threat. Willis showed good composure to go around the keeper only to be unceremoniously chopped to the ground- Graham stepped up to convert the penalty.

Collins got a second goal to make the game safe at 4-1 after good work from Lee chapman down the right wing.

The last 5 minutes were a sloppy period for Halifax as they lost concentration and tired but the result was never in doubt.

The 3 points keeps them up in the top 5 and with 2 games in hand, they are well placed going into the new year.
