There was a lot of rusty play during the game with a 3 week lay off but John Kalter was rarely troubled in the Halifax goal to keep a clean sheet. Jamie Maddock was dominant in the heart of the Halifax defence and Jason Smith (making a rare appearance) showed some quality in the middle of mid field to give Halifax more possession.
It took 25 minutes for the hosts to get on the scoresheet and it was a well worked goal with good interchanges between Lee Chapman, Dave Collins and finally Cameron Hellowell who flicked the ball home from close range. T
he normally solid passing of veteran Paul Graham was not at its best and the balls into the Acomb D were not of a high quality and the score remained 1-0 at half time.
After the break, Halifax continued to look the more likely side and Michael Broadbent, Nick Walton, Sean Fitzpatrick and Paul Mayes were starting to play better and give Jack Willis and Elliot Bullick more possession in the Acomb danger areas. Bullick was able to make it 2-0 forcing the ball home after good build up play from Fitzpatrick and Chapman.
Top scorer Collins killed off the game soon afterwards firing home when put in space by Willis. The team have an early start next Saturday when they play 2nd place Mirfield away
