From the start it was clear that Simon Meredith and Jack Willis were going to dominate the midfield for Halifax and this allowed captain Paul Mayes, Lee Chapman and Elliot Bullick to constantly make threats on the York goal.
Dave Collins continued his good form in front of goal with a brace towards the end of the 1st half and it remained 2-0 at half time despite some missed chances.
The 2nd half continued in a similar vein with the Halifax back 4 of Paul Graham, Jamie Maddock, Sean Fitzpatrick and Nick Walton rarely in trouble.
Collins completed his hat-trick pouncing on the ball after it had rebounded off the post.
The best goal of the day was finished by Bullick after some lovely interplay Collins, Chapman and Bullick himself.
York scored a consolation from a penatly corner but Walton returned the compliment with a 5th for Halifax also from a penalty corner.
